The "ONE BRONZEVILLE" Online Voting Campaign

Host - Bronzeville Institute of Technology

Location - Cyberspace!

End Date - October 10, 2007

The Bronzeville Institute of Technology is please to announce its "One Bronzeville" online voting campaign.

Quinn Chapel and the South Side Community Art Center, both located in the Bronzeville community, are competing in an online voting contest sponsored by the Partners in Preservation Chicago Initiative.

These two landmark properties are competing against 25 other historic sites located in the Chicago area for a slice of $1 million dollars in rehab funds.

Quinn Chapel played an important role in the city's abolitionist movement and was a station on the Underground Railroad. U. S. Presidents and leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King have spoken from its pulpit. As a house of worship, it serves Bronzeville in may ways as meeting space and social service provider.

The South Side Community Art Center is the only continuous survivor of the 100 Art Centers established nationwide by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the 1930s and '40s. It helped cultivate a vibrant African-American artistic community in Bronzeville and through the country. The Center contains a large and important collection of African-American artwork.

At present, these Bronzeville landmarks are behind in the voting and need your support.
